Close to our rental, Mount Mitchell is the eastern United States highest mountain. Experience a wonderful drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Mount Mitchell State Park. A great place to have a picnic and walk on the surrounding trails.

Laurel River Trail
There are also loads of places to picnic and swim in the Laurel River located in Hot Springs, NC. You can also walk the seven-mile flat trail along the river. Hot Springs is about 30 minutes from our rental house. Take 26-east (19/23 south) to exit 19 toward Marshall. Make right on US-25 N / US-70 W and follow straight to Hot Springs. You can find the Laurel River trail on the map at the ranger’s station in town.
This is a very beautiful place to spend the day!!!
